Danila Koltushkin was born in 2003, in Smolensk, based in St. Petersburg.
He graduated from the Academy of Arts, Faculty of Sculpture, where he received a classical academic education focused on form, material, and spatial thinking.
A trained wood carver, Danila used to do restoration work on 19th-century furniture. His main materials are gypsum, wood, stone, ceramics, and bronze.
The artist employs unconventional techniques by combining different materials within one composition, e.g., organic materials with glass, plastics and wood.
His works often turn to exploration of nature and the modes of its interactions with humans.
The imagery in Danila’s work draws from classical ancient sculpture.
